LPGA Founders Cup to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

Ultimate Family Golf Experience Swings its Way to the Valley with New Amenities for 2020

PHOENIX, Ariz., – The LPGA Founders Cup is excited to celebrate its 10th anniversary March 16-22, 2020 at the Wildfire Golf Club at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. The tournament, which is the only LPGA event in Arizona, will feature a full field of players who will compete for a $1.5 million purse. The event will feature the top female golfers in the world including current World No. 1 defending champion Jin Young Ko, and major champion Valley residents Cristie Kerr and Anna Nordqvist. Nordqvist, an eight-time LPGA winner and 2017 Founders Cup champion is a notable Arizona State University alum, where she was a two-time All-American and National Freshman of the Year. New for 2020, the event will debut a food truck fest, the Founders Museum with memorabilia from the oldest women’s sporting organization, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2020, and much more to celebrate the past decade.

“Since its inception in 2011, the mission of the Founders Cup has been to pay homage to the 13 women who set out to make a difference in sports while dreaming big for the future of golf through the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf program,” said Scott Wood, tournament director. “The tournament is steadily growing into one of the most well attended and popular events on the LPGA Tour and we are excited to roll out new event elements, like the Founders Food Fest, to give our loyal guests even more opportunities to experience and share the LPGA story.”
