PGA Golf Club to Host 'Red, White & You' Charity Event

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – PGA Golf Club – the PGA of America’s premier 54-hole facility – will host the fourth annual “Red, White & YOU” charity golf event on Sunday, Dec. 9.

All proceeds benefit PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the flagship military program of the PGA of America’s charitable foundation PGA REACH. The year-round program introduces golf to veterans, while enhancing their mental, social, physical and emotional well-being. PGA HOPE also helps veterans assimilate back into their community through the social interaction of golf.

“PGA Golf Club and the PGA of America are committed to improving the lives of our nation’s veterans and their families through the game of golf,” says PGA Golf Club General Manager Jimmy Terry. “It’s our honor and privilege to host this inspiring charity event, as we can’t thank our heroes enough for their honorable service.”

“My father served in the military, so this event really hits home, as it is something myself and our members are passionate about,” adds PGA Golf Club Director of Golf Operations Jeremy Wiernasz. “At PGA Golf Club, we provide more than 25 golf programs for nearly 100 veterans. Events like Red, White & YOU significantly help PGA HOPE and its unique programs.”

Open to all golfers, the entertaining fundraiser starts with opening ceremonies at 8:15 a.m., on Dec. 9. This will be followed by a scramble competition (with divisions) at 9 a.m. A post-event celebration will begin at 2 p.m. Entry for PGA Golf Club members, PGA Professionals and active or retired military is $85. Cost for guests of members and the general public is $110. Breakfast, lunch, golf prizes and tax are included.

Red, White & YOU sponsorship and donation opportunities are available. For information about the event, visit the event’s Facebook page, or contact Heidi Geiser at hgeiser@pgahq.com or 772-783-2019.

Known as the “Ultimate Golf Resort Destination,” PGA Golf Club is home to three highly-decorated courses designed by renowned architects Tom Fazio, and Pete Dye.

The Wanamaker Course ranked 18th in Golfweek’s “2018 Best: State-by-State Courses You Can Play” rankings, while the Dye Course rose to 22nd – making PGA Golf Club one of only a handful of properties with two layouts on the respected list. The Ryder Course reopened in 2017 to rave reviews, following a renovation project that enhanced the greens and surrounding areas.
