Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance Named in Top 100 by Festivals & Events Ontario
Kemble, ON – The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance is proud to be named one of Festivals and Events Ontario Top 100 award winners. “It is an honour to be represented with some of the most well-known and respected celebrations in the province” said Rob McLeese, Founder and Chair.
The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance, now in its 6th year, represents one of the many unique events that take place around the province. Over the past 5 years, the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance has helped Owen Sound and the surrounding areas to become known as Ontario’s classic car destination. “We are seeing car groups from the GTA and Toronto spend more and more time in the region” said Mr. McLeese. “We can see the impact that this event is having on the Tourism sector. Over the Concours weekend in September it is difficult to find a hotel room
in the City of Owen Sound and surrounding areas. Some of the hotels sell out a year in advance.”
Over the past 5 years, Grey Country reports that overall attendance has increased by 9% for local events and attractions. Growth is seen even with the loss of some events over this time period. The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance has seen growth not only with attendees coming from within the province but also seeing more and more attendees coming from the United States and other Canadian provinces. “In 2017 we had cars compete from California, Kentucky, Ohio, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Colorado, Maryland, New York, Michigan, New Hampshire, Alberta and British Columbia” said John Carlson, Chief Judge. “It’s a great honour when car owners are willing to travel and assume the expense to attend this event.”
The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance has risen to become the quintessential Canadian Concours d’Elegance. “I encourage everyone to attend this event even if you not a big fan of cars. These are more than just cars they are works of art and history.” said Mr. McLeese.
