Retirement Goals: Golf, Friends, Health, Happiness

Hilton Head is one of the world’s most iconic travel destinations for both golfers and non-golfers. Most golfers know Harbour Town and its famous lighthouse, but Hilton Head offers a Lowcountry pace of life that lowers your blood pressure in minutes. With its large oak trees covered in Spanish moss, it is hard to not feel at ease on the island. Heck, Travel + Leisure ranked Hilton Head the number one island in the continental U.S.

What if you are considering something more permanent than a golf vacation? Well, there is a hidden secret in Hilton Head: Sea Pines Country Club (SPCC). Tucked quietly within the gates of Sea Pines is the lone-private club offering its members exclusive access to golf, tennis, multiple pools and fitness. Sea Pines Country Club and Hilton Head have become the ideal retirement destination for those that love golf, a vibrant community, great food and access to miles of beautiful beaches.

For the golfer, the club is home to the meticulously maintained, Arnold Palmer-designed Club Course. In 2001, the course was redesigned by award-winning course architect Clyde Johnston. General Manager Robbie Ames, brother of PGA Tour winner Stephen Ames, calls the course “a shot-makers paradise.” The Club Course is best known for its immaculate playing conditions and a pace of play under four hours. What else could you ask for?

It gets better, not only does Sea Pines Country Club have a strong Canadian presence, but the club offers both full-time and part-time memberships depending on how much time you spend in the area. Even better, you can add access to the courses at Sea Pines Resort, including Harbour Town. With the upgraded memberships, golfers have access to 72-holes of championship caliber golf.

Outside of golf, members enjoy indoor and outdoor pools, eight Har-Tru clay tennis courts, fitness center, spa and upscale and casual dining options. The club is currently undergoing a $2.7 million renovation to refresh the clubhouse, which includes a commitment to offering healthier lifestyle options for its members. America’s Healthiest Club just scored SPCC an 88% on its Health Report scale. The club also has a robust social calendar that helps bring the community together.

After we retire, aren’t we all just looking to be happy and play more golf with friends. Sea Pines Country Club offers all of that and more.

Membership is by invitation, but the club has volunteer ambassadors that happily introduce candidates to member sponsors. Interested? The club offers a Day of Discovery to showcase the golf course and amenities that have made it one of the Southeast’s premier private clubs. With both WestJets and Air Canada offering flights into Savannah, Sea Pines Country Club is only a few hours away.
